Course Description

This course is designed to introduce physical educators to the use of powerpoint for teacher productivity and instruction. Participants will complete the course with intermediate skills in the use powerpoint. They also will learn practical applications for PowerPoint.


Course Objectives

Participants will be able to:

Follow all design principles when creating presentations.

Design a presentation on a cognitive concept.

Design a presentation on a motor skill.

Design a presentation on your physical education program.

Design a presentation for back-to-school night.

Create and design a powerpoint document for a professional use.

Course Sessions

To complete the requirements for the session click on the module (available after registration), then read the presentation and complete the learning activities. Lessons will be posted on the date noted.

I.

Introduction to powerpoint

II.

Learning the basics: Creating a presentation, adding slides, and text

III.

Learning the basics: inserting graphics, manipulating graphics, and printing

IV.

Moving on to the intermediate level: inserting audio clips, video clips, and tables/charts

V.

Moving on to the intermediate level: inserting animation, setting auto play, and using transitions

VI.

Creating a professional powerpoint presentation

 


Methods of Evaluation

For those taking the class for any type of credit - specifics will be explained as we progress through the course.

1. Completion of 6 online modules.

2. Create the following assigned powerpoint files: teaching a cognitive concept, teaching a motor skill, physical education program overview, and back-to-school.

3. Describe the use of powerpoint in the instructional process.

4. Create a powerpoint document based on a professional need.
